Hello! Welcome to my blog. I’m Arlin Cuncic, a longtime mental health writer living in Ontario, Canada. I am dedicated to helping people with social anxiety (and other mental health challenges) learn how to manage these conditions in a way that makes life a bit easier.
I started writing about anxiety in 2007 when I joined About.com. I wanted to report on trending topics and share tips with readers around the world who were too afraid to get help, or maybe even leave their house. It seems the demand for that information was strong, as my articles at About.com garnered hundreds of thousands of views each month. My “blog” was also listed as one of Healthline’s Best Anxiety Blogs of the Year.
In 2017, About.com did some restructuring. I now write for a site called Verywell (part of the About group—now renamed “Dotdash”). As part of that restructuring, I write about a wider variety of mental health topics now, and I also only write informational content, so the focus has narrowed a bit from what it was in the past. This means no more book reviews, celebrity interviews, fictional narratives, etc. In the interest of keeping my creative spirit alive, and also to dedicate a site to social anxiety (because that’s where all this started), I decided to create a new home here at About Social Anxiety.
